劇場燈暗、燈亮，來自不同背景的表演者陸續上台，DJ開始放送一首首耳熟能詳的流行金曲，人們的身體與劇場元素一起盡情K歌。《非跳不可》是傑宏．貝爾（Jérôme Bel）在國際巡演二十年的經典作品；繼去年集結在地民眾、大受好評的《歡聚今宵》之後，編舞家再度帶來結合當地參與的製作，以熟悉的節奏，驅動我們的身體與記憶。

二十多年來，傑宏．貝爾的作品總能提出直指核心的概念，形塑觀眾獨特的經驗，拓展藝術的意涵。今年在臺北，他將再度挑戰邊界，首度將舞作交由兩位臺灣編舞家與在地參與者來實踐。「舞不是我編的，而是大眾文化、文化產業編的」，作者權力與知識傳遞的問題透過這個動作更加銳利的展現在我們眼前。從現在起，作品就交由我們去完成這個經驗與傳遞。

【藝術家簡介】
傑宏．貝爾住在巴黎，在世界各地創作，是法國當代指標性的編舞家。《非跳不可》展現了他作品一貫的機智和特立獨行，形成出乎意料的劇場經驗。他曾為幾名舞者打造舞作，如巴黎歌劇院昔日屆退舞者Véronique Doisneau（2004）、曾訪台的《泰國製造》（與泰國舞者皮歇・克朗淳，2005），以及和比利時重要編舞家姬爾美可一同創作了《3道別》（2010）。2017年巴黎秋季藝術節為他的創作辦了回顧展，從市區到市郊都看得到他的作品。

20 performers, 19 songs and 1 DJ. By use of a simple action/reaction mechanism in between the hits and moving bodies, Jérôme Bel has devised a piece which brings together affect and concept, collective subconscious and exhibition of uniqueness. It resembles a sort of choreographic karaoke in which the performers do exactly as they are told to do in the words of the songs, thereby shifting the relationship between what we await and what we receive, what we feel and what we perceive, which is at heart of the theatre.

As always in the work of Jérôme, the scope of the piece extends far beyond its concept. Since its first performance in 2001, the piece has never stopped going on(wards). In this latest version, for the first time, the score will be activated by two Taiwanese choreographers, a new step in Jérôme’s conceptual research on authorship and knowledge transmission: “It is not me who produces the choreography; it is the mass culture, the cultural industry.” Now, it is up to everyone to live and transmit it.

【Company Intro】
Jérôme Bel lives in Paris and works worldwide. He is one of the most important living contemporary dance-makers of France. His witty and maverick signature is exemplified by his highly-acclaimed The Show Must Go On (2001). His career was celebrated with a retrospective in the Festival d'Automne 2017 held all over the city of Paris and suburbs. In 2004, the Paris Opera commissioned from Bel a theatrical documentary about Véronique Doisneau, a dancer in their corps de ballet. In 2005, a residency in Thailand resulted in Pichet Klunchun & Myself, a choreographic dialogue between Bel and traditional Thai dancer Pichet Klunchun. In 2010, he collaborated with Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker to create 3Abschied.
