2018 Tua-Tiu-Tiann International Festival of Arts
《Our Body》
Dance X AMA museum X Site-Specific Performance
Program introductions
A bitter past can be difficult to talk about, and victims of war have kept their secrets for so long. Ama, former comfort women, show great tenacity and courage, as they transform their pain into tender strength.
For the past 20 years, the Taipei Women’s Rescue Foundation has cared for and accompanied former Taiwanese comfort women, allowing their trauma to be faced in a different way. Inside Out Dance Theatre created this performance based on the AMA museum space, in combination with museum displays and the works of Ama created during their art therapy sessions. The site-specific performance takes place in different areas of the museum, providing a new experience for audiences and encouraging the revisiting of this history, which should not be forgotten.
