When you are so happy you cannot contain yourself. You wear it on your sleeve, and when that happiness turns into more happiness, a charm lifts your spirits ever higher, until naturally the happiness finds an outlet.
Two of the most representative Chinese orchestras in Taiwan, the Taipei Chinese Orchestra and the National Chinese Orchestra, join forces for the first time ever, uniting to celebrate life, displaying their most skilled repertoire, reproducing the classical works of both orchestras.
A top ethnic Chinese conductor Zuohuang Chen will lead the orchestra and the percussionists from both orchestras will play together for Flying Dragons and Jumping Tigers, building up the starting momentum of the concert with magnificent and majestic sounds. The momentum will carry on throughout the program, right unto the final piece Northwest Suite by renowned composer Dun Tan. Each piece feels almost connected, as though existing within a single movement from one symphony, where two becomes one and the mighty force grows even stronger.
Especially noteworthy is Whirling Dance, written by the TCO General Director Yiu-Kwong Chung, a piece full of layer upon layer, walls of sound crawl until they finally whirl, flowing into a rippling charisma which is most fascinating. This piece released worldwide on the BIS label. It is also beyond its time, with a Western flute solo, which will further make this a night to remember.
